Emma Thompson Asked Prince William for a Kiss During Her Damehood Ceremony

Emma Thompson tried to sneak a kiss from Prince William as he made her a Dame — one of Britain’s highest awards.

The 59-year-old Oscar-winning actress was appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire during an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace in London, England on Wednesday, November 7.

Emma said she and Prince William “sniggered” at each other when she asked for a kiss.

“I love Prince William. I’ve known him since he was little, and we just sniggered at each other. I said, ‘I can’t kiss you, can I?’ And he said, ‘No don’t!’” she told E! News.

“If you’re first up, you have to be more formal on such an occasion…but he’s looking wonderful and doing so well. He said, ‘This day isn’t about me, it’s about you,’” the star added.

Following the ceremony, Emma posed alongside her husband Greg Wise, her daughter, Gaia, and her son, Tindyebwa Agaba, outside of the palace to commemorate the special occasion.
